Do your homework before reaching out. You should know the following:

[ ] Head coach and lead assistant

[ ] Recent years results

[ ] How they play on offense and defence (watching games)

[ ] How the team is playing at the moment

[ ] Important players in the program

[ ] A realistic idea of where you might fit in or be able to contribute (coaches hate delusional players)

You are initiating contact, not the other way around. You need to sell them on you by acting the part in every capacity possible.

Coaches are using their precious time to reach out to you. Don’t waste their time. If you are interested let them know. If you are not interested, graciously thank them but state you don’t see their school/program being a good fit for you.

Use the team website to find out phone numbers and emails. Ask your coaches if they have connection at the school you are contacting.
