A recruiting highlight video is one of the most important tools you have in the college recruiting process. It gives coaches a quick, curated look at your abilities, and often serves as their first impression of you as an athlete. Highlight videos save coaches time and help your skills stand out in a crowded field.
Keep it Short & Impactful
Aim for about 3–5 minutes of gameplay or skill highlights. The goal is to show quality over quantity, coaches don’t want to sit through a long film.
Show Your Best Plays First
Put your strongest, most impressive clips at the beginning; coaches often decide within the first 30–60 seconds whether they’ll keep watching.
Identify Yourself Clearly
At the start of the video and before each clip, include:
Name
Position
Jersey number
Graduation year
Contact info (email/phone)
This helps coaches instantly know who they’re watching and how to reach you
Use Good Quality Footage
High resolution, steady shots filmed horizontally, and clear views of the action help coaches evaluate you effectively.
