Character is equally important as it dictates how a player will fit into the program's culture and handle adversity.
- Network and Reputation: What does the broader basketball world (coaches, former teammates, general managers) say about you?
- Personality: Assessment of whether the player is positive or negative, a leader or a follower, and what type of energy (positive, negative, or neutral) they bring to the group.
- Practice Habits: High energy, focus, and consistency in practice sessions.

- Discipline: Reliability and punctuality.
- Coachability: Can they handle criticism constructively? Are they self-critical, or do they constantly make excuses?
- Team-mate Status: Are they a good teammate and a positive presence for the overall team dynamic?

- Treatment of Others: How do they interact with the entire staff, front office, and fans?
- Professionalism: This includes their approach to:
- Partying, drinking, and smoking.
- Eating and sleeping habits.
- Social media accounts (Coaches prefer a focus on family or professionalism over excessive partying or posing).
- Adjustability: Are they able and willing to adjust to a new environment, new culture, and new system?
- Pain Tolerance: The ability to play through being hurt (a common discomfort) versus being genuinely injured (a structural problem).
